SCORE PREDICTIONS [FIRST HALF]

This week’s top tips and score predictions, brought to you by CXSports — the leader in odds and score predictions.

Banik Ostrava vs Legia
🏟 Europa League Qualification (Round 2)
Thursday 24 July; 19:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: If you like an outside odds play that has a shockingly good chance of winning, then this game’s probably for you.

  • CXSports says: According to the consensus, the favorite here is Banik Ostrava. But when we took a closer look at this game, we saw a couple of things that really stood out. Legia’s been absolutely potent on the road in Europe recently (2.17 goals/game). Meanwhile, Baník’s been having a less-than-ideal defensive run at home (average of ~1.4 goals conceded per game). Put two and two together, and it’s clear that Legia has a pretty good shot at keeping Banik on the back foot, if not outright defeating them. As such, we’re backing a Legia victory, even if it might be a little bit of a longshot.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 for Legia

Option #1

  • Bet: Legia Victory

  • Odds Range: 2.56-3.01

Option #2

  • Bet: Double Chance (Banik / Legia)

  • Odds Range: 1.18-1.33

FC Sheriff Tiraspol vs Utrecht
🏟 Europa League Qualification (Round 2)
Thursday 24 July; 19:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: Here’s another outside odds play with even bigger odds if you don’t mind taking on a little bit of risk.

  • CXSports says: Technically, this game should be Utrecht’s for the taking. Hands down, they are the superior team. However, things get interesting when we look at Sheriff’s home advantage. Simply put, given the right venue (home), they can be absolutely brutal. We saw this in round one, where Sheriff dominated Prishtina 4-0 at home, yet only advanced 5-2 on aggregate (they went down 1-2 in the away leg). For this reason, and this reason alone, we’re giving them the benefit of the doubt and calling an underdog victory.

  • Score prediction: 2-1 for Sheriff Tiraspol

Option #1

  • Bet: Sheriff Tiraspol Victory

  • Odds Range: 3.80-4.50

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.65-1.80

FC Midtjylland vs Hibernian
🏟 Europa League Qualification (Round 2)
Thursday 24 July; 19:30 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: This one’s a nice sure thing with some reasonable value odds.

  • CXSports says: There’s one pair of stats that’s likely to define this game. We’re talking about Midtjylland’s massive offensive firepower at home (2.7 goals/game at home) vs Hibernian’s leaky defense (on the road, they concede ~2.5 goals per game on average). Taken together, this suggests two things. First, there’s a good chance this one’s a high-scoring game — we wouldn’t be surprised to see Midtjylland net at least three goals here. Second, unless Hibernian can fix its defense ahead of tonight’s game (unlikely), this game will almost certainly end in Midtjylland’s favor.

  • Score prediction: 3-1 for Midtjylland

Option #1

  • Bet: Midtjylland Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.28-1.45

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.55-1.77

Levski vs Braga
🏟 Europa League Qualification (Round 2)
Thursday 24 July; 19:30 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: Here are some really solid odds on a high-probability victory by an experienced Euro team.

  • CXSports says: Levski will be coming into this game full of confidence after a massive 5–0 win in the first round, so expect to see them push aggressively. With that said, confidence and aggressivity will only get them so far — maybe, just maybe a goal. Braga, for its part, are experienced European veterans with a lot more polish, particularly in terms of the efficiency of their attack — their ability to score at an average of over 2 goals per game this season will likely more than offset any lucky goal Levski might sneak through.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 for Braga

Option #1

  • Bet: Braga Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.50-1.67

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.70-1.90

SCORE PREDICTIONS [SECOND HALF]

Anderlecht vs Hacken
🏟 Europa League Qualification (Round 2)
Thursday 24 July; 20:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: There might be better things to dedicate your attention to this week. But don’t let us stop you from watching this one if you want to.

  • CXSports says: Anderlecht will likely charge straight out of the gate and look to take control very early on in this game, comfortable in the knowledge that they’ve managed 50 goals in their last 30 home games. Hacken, for its part, will likely manage a response, but with Andersen missing from their midfield, it’s likely they won’t be getting too many chances. And, if they do, this could become a tense game that might come down to the final minutes. However, ultimately, this one’s Anderlecht’s for the taking.

  • Score prediction: 2-1 for Anderlecht

Option #1

  • Bet: Anderlecht Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.29-1.45

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.65-1.83

Besiktas vs Shakhtar Donetsk
🏟 Europa League Qualification (Round 2)
Thursday 24 July; 20:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: There are some nice odds on a high-probability both-teams-to-score play.

  • CXSports says: If you look at the head-to-head history between these two, you might be tempted to believe Donetsk has a big edge here with three victories, one draw, and just one defeat. However, only one of those is likely relevant to the current squad (most H2Hs are now ancient history), which was a single goal victory about this time last year — hardly convincing. And things start to look even closer when we take statistics into account. With that said, if there’s one thing we can count on, it’s that both teams are likely to score, with both sides averaging ~60% BTTS. Aside from that, we’re calling this one too-close-to-call.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 or 2-1 for either side.

Option #1

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.60-1.80

Option #2

  • Bet: Double Chance (Besiktas / Donetsk)

  • Odds Range: 1.18-1.30

NK Celje vs AEK Larnaca
🏟 Europa League Qualification (Round 2)
Thursday 24 July; 20:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: While it’s far from a sure thing, there are some great value odds on NK Celje here.

  • CXSports says: If there’s one thing that stands out about Celje, it’s their strong attacking stats so far in the Europa qualifiers (2.7 goals per game), which they’ve managed to back up with an okay defensive record (1.3 goals conceded per game). For comparison, Larnaca has been noticeably less aggressive with just 1.6 goals scored per game. What might save Larnaca, though, is their impressive defensive stats (0.6 goals conceded), although they’re going to have to step it up a whole level or two if they want to stand a chance here.

  • Score prediction: 2-1 for Celje

Option #1

  • Bet: Celje Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.89-2.15

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.78-1.95

Lugano vs CFR Cluj
🏟 Europa League Qualification (Round 2)
Thursday 24 July; 20:30 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: While it’s too close to call, the double chance odds are still decent value here.

  • CXSports says: While Lugano might have the home advantage in this game, that advantage is only theoretical at best. In practice, however, Lugano have been having a terrible run at home when playing at the European level in recent times — 0 victories and 2.25 goals conceded per game. Cluj, on the other hand, are much more stable, and will likely take control of this game early on, despite not playing on their home turf. That’s not to say they’ll go unchallenged, of course. And, for all we know, Lugano may just find its stride at home in this game. In short, this could be anyone's game for the taking.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 or 2-1 for either side

Option #1

  • Bet: Double Chance (Lugano / Cluj)

  • Odds Range: 1.23-1.35

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.65-1.83

THE FINAL SCORE

Your weekly dose of inspiration, brought to you by Masters of Trivia.

Listen up — if you’re eating or drinking while you’re reading this and you don’t wanna spit it all over your screen, then now’s the time to swallow.

This week's “inspirational” quote’s gonna look a little weird. (Don’t worry, we’ll make it make sense.)

Alright, here goes.

So, what’s the meaning of this?

Well, Snoop may well have been talking about wannabe tough guys on the street flashing their guns. Snoop calls their bluff — they’re too afraid to use them.

But the principle also applies more generally. Think about it.

Maybe you trained for a fight, but you won't step into the ring.

Or maybe you’ve written a melody, but can’t bring yourself to sing.

Or maybe you’ve bought all the tools, but you won’t build the thing.

In other words, if you’ve got something — a tool, a talent… anything at all — but you’re too afraid to use it, then it’s basically worthless.
