SCORE PREDICTIONS [FIRST HALF]

This week’s top tips and score predictions, brought to you by CXSports — the leader in odds and score predictions.

⚽ Aktobe vs Legia
šŸŸ Europa League Qualifications
Thursday 17 July; 18:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: Great value odds on a high-probability Legia victory here.

  • CXSports says: Legia will be heading to Kazakhstan today with a narrow 1-0 margin, a deeper and more experienced squad, and the comfort of knowing that they rarely concede (7 European clean sheets last season). That’s enough to set them up as clear favorites here, although they’ll still have to deal with Aktobe’s home advantage and potential attacking ambitions. Of course, this is a minor threat — so long as Legia can keep their defense together (which, according to the stats, they can), then this game should end in a relatively clean victory.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 for Legia

Option #1

  • Bet: Legia Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.52-1.71

Option #2

  • Bet: First Team to Score (Legia)

  • Odds Range: 1.32-1.55

⚽ Ilves vs Shakhtar Donetsk
šŸŸ Europa League Qualifications
Thursday 17 July; 28:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: Another match with some great value odds given the huge edge Shakhtar has in this game.

  • CXSports says: In case you missed it, Shakhtar thrashed Ilves 6-0 in the opening leg of this fixture. This time around, things might not end so brutally, but we should still expect Shakhtar to dominate in every way possible, whether that be in possession, playmaking, or any other aspect of their game. Ilves, on the other hand, should be able to avoid the scoreless embarrassment of their last match if they can harness their home advantage, although anything they manage will ultimately be too little to stop the Shakhtar steamroller.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 for Shakhtar Donetsk

Option #1

  • Bet: Shakhtar Donetsk Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.45-1.65

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.55-1.75

⚽ Hacken vs Spartak Trnava
šŸŸ Europa League Qualifications
Thursday 17 July; 19:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: Here we have yet another team with a huge edge and some great value odds.

  • CXSports says: In the first leg of this fixture, Hacken secured a tight 1-0 victory courtesy of a brilliant (some might say lucky) back-heel from 20-year-old Severin Nioule. Of course, as unconvincing as that victory might have been, let’s not forget that Hacken did it on the road. This time around, they’re at home, and Trnava looking like its chances are very slim — after conceding in seven straight games, they’ll likely struggle to keep Hacken out over the full 90 minutes, and their odds of netting one in response look poor. In short, big edge for Hacken.

  • Score prediction: 2-0 for HƤcken

Option #1

  • Bet: Hacken victory

  • Odds Range: 1.43-1.65

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (No)

  • Odds Range: 1.60-1.91

⚽ CFR Cluj vs Paksi SE
šŸŸ Europa League Qualifications
Thursday 17 July; 19:30 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: A lucky result in the first leg has overinflated expectations for Paksi. That’s left us with some very decent odds on what should be an all-too-easy victory for Cluj.

  • CXSports says: The first leg of this fixture ended in a somewhat unexpected 0-0 draw. But, despite the deadlocked scoreline, some clear differences were evident between these two sides. For the most part, Cluj dictated play — 60 % possession, 11 shots, and 7 corners, while Paks had just 6 shots and 3 corners. Now, if you take that sort of statistical imbalance and chuck it onto the better side's home ground, then there’s really only one probable outcome — the home side wins comfortably.

  • Score prediction: 2-0 for CFR Cluj

Option #1

  • Bet: CFR Cluj Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.22-1.38

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (No)

  • Odds Range: 1.53-1.75

HALF TIME ENTERTAINMENT

All the way back in 2012, a guy named John Terry was playing for Chelsea — the same year Chelsea also won the Champions League final. But Terry had a problem — he’d been suspended ahead of the final, so didn’t even play a single minute during the game.

But do you think that stopped Terry from celebrating?

Not at all — Terry showed up in full Chelsea kit for the trophy celebration. And thus, the saying ā€œpulling a John Terryā€ was born.

Now let’s fast forward to the 2025 Club World Cup. Chelsea wins, and US President Donald Trump shows up — all’s normal so far. But then, things got weird when he started photobombing the squad like he was part of the team.

And that’s why everyone’s saying Trump "pulled a John Terry."

Now let’s see what else you know about Chelsea’s history with a quick quiz from our friends at Masters of Trivia.

Question: True or False: Chelsea FC won the UEFA Europa League in the 2012-2013 season.

  • A: True

  • B: False

SCORE PREDICTIONS [SECOND HALF]

⚽ Hapoel Beer Sheva vs Levski
šŸŸ Europa League Qualifications
Thursday 17 July; 20:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: In all seriousness, we’ll probably skip this one. But since it’s part of this week’s qualifiers, we’re including it anyway.

  • CXSports says: If the history between these two teams is any indication, then this one’s going to be close. The first leg in these qualifications ended 0–0. That brings the 3-game head-to-head history between these two to 1 win for Levski and 2 draws — a minor advantage for Levski. So then, what’s the likely outcome of this game? Honestly, we don’t know — in theory, Hapoel has a slight advantage given this one’s on their home turf. But ultimately, this could go either way.

  • Score prediction: 2-1 for Hapoel

Option #1

  • Bet: Double Chance (Hapoel / Levski)

  • Odds Range: 1.22-1.35

Option #2

  • Bet: Draw No Bet (Hapoel)

  • Odds Range: 1.33-1.48

⚽ KF Prishtina vs FC Sheriff Tiraspol
šŸŸ Europa League Qualifications
Thursday 17 July; 20:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: This one’s not quite a sure thing, but Sheriff does hold a clear edge here, which makes these odds very attractive if you don’t mind a small amount of risk.

  • CXSports says: Sheriff might have dominated the first leg of this fixture after a hat-trick performance from Bayala helped deliver a massive 4-0 scoreline. But it would be premature to write off Prishtina entirely because of this. With Sheriff likely to ā€œplay it safeā€ this time around, and Prishtina having the home advantage this time around, the scoreline could look very different this time. Sure, Sheriff still holds the edge — but don’t think for a second that their edge is in any way proportional to their first-leg victory.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 for FC Sheriff Tiraspol

Option #1

  • Bet: Sheriff Tiraspol Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.95-2.23

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.60-1.80

⚽ NK Celje vs Sabah Baku
šŸŸ Europa League Qualifications
Thursday 17 July; 20:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: Given Celje’s clear edge here, these odds are possibly the best value going around this week.

  • CXSports says: Celje are coming into their home leg in this fixture with both control on aggregate (3-2 last time around) and (let’s be honest here), some frankly superior footballing experience at the European level. Still, they’ll need to keep their guard up against Sabah, who will probably look to hit early on. Especially as Celje chase security. With that said, Celje’s superior quality in the midfield and attack should mean they’ll be more than equipped to answer anything Sabah can throw their way.

  • Score prediction: 2-1 for NK Celje

Option #1

  • Bet: NK Celje Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.69-1.88

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.70-1.85

⚽ Partizan Belgrade vs AEK Larnaca
šŸŸ Europa League Qualifications
Thursday 17 July; 21:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: If you’re willing to take a big punt, there’s a good chance this game ends in a draw with some equally good odds to go along with it.

  • CXSports says: Larnaca has a slight 1-0 advantage coming into this, putting Partizan under immediate pressure to press for an early equalizer. And they might just manage that if they can leverage their home advantage to its fullest. However, the same inefficiency we saw in the back half of the first leg could hurt them again as the match opens up, with AEK likely to threaten on the counter before locking down their defense, and maybe sneaking a final one through with one of their famous set-piece plays. Or, more likely, this game ends in a tie and Larnaca advance on aggregate.

  • Score prediction: 1-1 draw or 1-2 for Larnaca

Option #1

  • Bet: Draw No Bet (Larnaca)

  • Odds Range: 1.40-1.60

Option #2

  • Bet: Draw

  • Odds Range: 2.80-3.20
