⚽ Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur

Friday 16 May; 20:30 (Europe/Paris)

• Why we’re watching: This should be a nice, easy win for Villa. And that means it should be a nice, easy win for us (if we remember to back them)!

• CXSports says: Villa have been in solid form since their attacking options improved with their January signings of Marco Asensio and Marcus Rash. In fact, they might even be a serious contender for a Euro berth come season’s end. Unfortunately for the Spurs, we can’t say the same about them. Struggling in 16th place with as many losses on the board as most people have fingers and toes combined (four of which have come in their last five games), they’re not much of a threat to most teams in the EPL. Not much more really needs to be said, does it?

• Score prediction: 2-1 for Villa

⚽ Chelsea vs Manchester United

• Why we’re watching: There’s a pretty good chance this game goes to a draw and, if it does, there are some BIG odds-on offer. Of course, that’s still a risky option.

• CXSports says: With head coach, Enzo Maresca, pushing his squad for wins in their remaining league matches (lest they might not make it to Europe), the Chelsea squad is certainly feeling the pressure right now. Man United, on the other hand, have already ruined their season, but still have enough points on the board to guarantee safety. That could have a big impact on the outcome of this game, especially when we consider that Chelsea, while technically the favorite, only managed a draw against United last time these two met. In short, Chelsea’s edge, while still there, is smaller than some people think and this game could easily go to a draw if they’re not careful.

• Score prediction: 2-1 for Chelsea

• Why we’re watching: Because betting against Southampton is always a pretty safe thing to do.

• CXSports says: Let’s keep this one short. Southampton, has had an absolutely abysmal season with just two wins from 36 games. So let’s just ignore Everton for the moment and ask a question: What’re the odds Southampton looses a game, regardless of the team they’re facing? Answer: about 5-6%. That should help you to figure out where we’re putting our money.

⚽ West Ham vs Nottingham Forest

• Why we’re watching: Some nice odds on a high-probability draw.

• CXSports says: Despite what the large gap on the table between these two might suggest, this might be one of the more closely contested matches we’ll see in the EPL this week. While Forest has had the better season overall, recent injury concerns and an abysmal record on the road in recent games (they’ve lost their last 6 away games) tend to suggest they might struggle here. Of course, West Ham’s not without its struggles, and a home advantage probably won’t be enough to overcome that fact. Chances are, this one ends in a draw.

• Score prediction: 1-1 draw

• Why we’re watching: Because we like Brentford’s chances here.

• CXSports says: The head-to-head history between these two has been kinda mixed. In general, it’s the home team that comes out on top, although there have been a couple of exceptions in recent years, usually in Brentford’s favor, like the time in 2023 when Brentford pulled off a clean sheet victory on the road (by three goals no less!). Of course, that’s all ancient history, so might mean nothing today, although it’s hard not to note that Brentford has had some excellent form lately. Fulham, meanwhile, hasn’t done half as well. In short, Brentford looks like the stronger team here in more ways than one.

• Why we’re watching: Because who doesn’t like backing an underdog…?… especially when you get to back two at the same time!

• CXSports says: Tied for points in a neck-and-neck race for 2nd-last place in the Premier League standings, this Leicester vs Ipswich pairing makes for one of the more desperate sights you’ll see all week… in any league. So who’s better? Well, neither. In fact, the last few times these two have met, the games ended in a draw.

• Score prediction: 1-1 draw

• Why we’re watching: If you’re looking for some of the best soccer you’ll see all week, then this game’s probably going to be it.

• CXSports says: When it comes to playing on the road, Newcastle has done a pretty good job of it this season by securing eight away victories. Not bad at all. However, while that might suggest they have a chance against Arsenal, we need only look at Arsenal’s home record against Newcastle to throw out any notion of Newcastle having much of a chance. In the last 12 times these two have met on Arsenal’s home turf, Arsenal has won all but one. This week, there’s a good chance that 11-from-12 become 12-from-13.

• Why we’re watching: Because if you’re looking for the surest thing in the EPL on a Tuesday night, this is it.

• CXSports says: The last time these two met, Bournemouth secured a 2-1 victory over Manchester City. However, that might have been a fluke. Overall, Manchester City has dominated this fixture in the past with 16 wins in their last 17 meetings. That doesn’t bode well for 10th-placed Bournemouth who, in addition to lagging Manchester City in terms of current form, will also be playing this game on the road. In short, expect a comfortable victory for Manchester City.
