SCORE PREDICTIONS [FIRST HALF]

This weekā€™s top tips and score predictions, brought to you by CXSports ā€” the leader in odds and score predictions

āš½ Nottingham Forest vs Manchester City
English Premier League
Saturday 8 March; 13:30 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: The actual statistical chances of Man City coming out on top here far outweigh the odds at the bookies. That makes Man City a solid value bet.

  • CXSports says: Nottingham Forest has shown it can be reasonably solid in defense. We saw this in their goalless draw against Arsenal in recently. With that said, Manchester City boasts one of the more potent attacks in the league, particularly with Erling Haaland topping the scoring charts this season. Whatā€™s more, in their last head-to-head, City secured an easy 3-0 victory over Forest. In short, Forestā€™s defensive approach probably wonā€™t be enough to hold off Cityā€™s attacking strength.

  • Score prediction: 1-3 for Manchester City

Option #1

  • Bet: Manchester Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.85-1.95

Option #2

  • Bet: Over/Under (Over 3.5)

  • Odds Range: 2.18-2.27

āš½ Brighton vs Fulham
English Premier League
Saturday 8 March; 16:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: Thereā€™s a massive value bet for Fulham here where their actual chances far outweigh what the market thinks.

  • CXSports says: Both teams in this fixture have shown some strong form in recent games, with each posting four wins apiece in their last five matches. So what will tip the balance here? For starters, Brighton has a 50% win rate at home over their last six matches, while Fulham has been impressive on the road with an 83% win rate in their last six away games. Now add to that the fact that Fulham remains unbeaten in their last nine EPL meetings with Brighton, of which there were five wins and four draws. Given this, the edge clearly goes to Fulham.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 for Fulham

Option #1

  • Bet: Fulham Victory

  • Odds Range: 3.50-3.78

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.45-1.57

āš½ Crystal Palace vs Ipswich Town
English Premier League
Saturday 8 March; 16:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: Maybe not the most exciting play, but there are two solid options here with reasonable odds.

  • CXSports says: Crystal Palace has demonstrated some improved form in recent games. In their last six matches, theyā€™ve won four and scored 12 goals while only conceding five. Ipswich, on the other hand, struggled defensively with a large number of goals conceded, and theyā€™ve failed to make up for that in attack. With that said, Palace only narrowly secured a 1-0 victory in their last head-to-head, so thereā€™s a chance Ipswich might limit the damage in terms of goal difference.

  • Score prediction: 1-0 for Crystal Palace

Option #1

  • Bet: Crystal Palace Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.36-1.50

Option #2

  • Bet: Over/Under (Under 2.5)

  • Odds Range: 1.59-1.64

āš½ Liverpool vs Southampton
English Premier League
Saturday 8 March; 16:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: This is the surest thing the EPLā€™s got to offer this week.

  • CXSports says: Liverpool has been in unstoppable form all season and is now leading the league with a 13-point buffer. Southampton, on the other hand, is dead last on the table and has struggled with just about every aspect of its game, particularly defensively (more goals conceded than any other team in the league). And while this sets Liverpool up for an easy win, donā€™t expect it to be an absolute spanking ā€” Liverpool will likely see this as more of a fun and easy rest day than a serious, Premier League-level game.

  • Score prediction: 2-0 for Liverpool

Option #1

  • Bet: Liverpool Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.06-1.12

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (No)

  • Odds Range: 1.68-1.75

āš½ Brentford vs Aston Villa
English Premier League
Saturday 8 March; 18:30 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: While this oneā€™s a little hard to call, it should at least deliver some competitive football.

  • CXSports says: Brentford has had some mild challenges in defense this season compared to similarly ranked teams, although theyā€™ve managed to offset that with a slightly stronger attack. Aston Villa, on the other hand, hasnā€™t been much better in defense but has failed to make up for that in their attack. That gives Brentford a slight edge coming into this game. However, we shouldnā€™t forget that the last time these two met, Villa came out on top 3-1 over Brentford.

  • Score prediction: 2-1 for Brentford

Option #1

  • Bet: Double Chance (Brentford / Aston Villa)

  • Odds Range: 1.23-1.29

Option #2

  • Bet: Over/Under (Over 2.5)

  • Odds Range: 1.42-1.46

HALF TIME ENTERTAINMENT

While we canā€™t say that Jack Grealishā€™s love for one too many ā€œlemonadesā€ is the only reason for his downfall, we know it definitely hasnā€™t helped him.

But what about other famous people with a love for libations? Is there such a thing as a high-functioning alcoholic?

Turns out, there is ā€” Vincent van Gogh. He drank an absurd amount of absinthe. And somehow, that helped him churn out some of the most famous paintings ever.

Now letā€™s see what else you know about Vincent van Gogh.

Question: Before becoming an artist, what was van Goghā€™s job?

  • A: Butcher

  • B: Art dealer

  • C: Miner

  • D: Priest

SCORE PREDICTIONS [SECOND HALF]

āš½ Wolves vs Everton
English Premier League
Saturday 8 March; 21:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: Thereā€™s a solid double chance play here with some half-decent odds.

  • CXSports says: Wolves have been struggling big time in defense this season with a whopping 56 goals conceded. Everton has been somewhat more solid in defense, although theyā€™ve been slightly less potent in their attack. That could make this a tight game, although Evertonā€™s the only one coming into this game unbeaten in their last five matches. Further, the last time these two met, Everton took a convincing 2-0 victory over the Wolves.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 for Everton or a 1-1 draw

Option #1

  • Bet: Double Chance (Draw / Everton)

  • Odds Range: 1.48-1.54

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.64-1.85

āš½ Chelsea vs Leicester City
English Premier League
Sunday 9 March; 15:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: This oneā€™s the second-most sure thing in the EPL this week.

  • CXSports says: After a bit of a slump, Chelsea has managed to clean up its defensive play with the help of MoisĆ©s Caicedo. Meanwhile, Leicester City has struggled offensively, and their counterattacking approach has proven to be less than effective this season. Add to that the result of their last head-to-head, where Chelsea took a 2-1 win, and this game looks like itā€™s strongly in Chelseaā€™s favor.

  • Score prediction: 2-0 for Chelsea

Option #1

  • Bet: Chelsea Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.18-1.22

Option #2

  • Bet: Correct Score (2-0)

  • Odds Range: 7.00-8.50

āš½ Tottenham vs Bournemouth
English Premier League
Sunday 9 March; 15:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: People are underestimating Bournemouth here, leaving us with a solid value bet.

  • CXSports says: Tottenham has had a somewhat disappointing campaign this season. Thatā€™s left it with a real need to secure victories if it wants to finish the season respectably. However, desperation can only take a team so far, and Bournemouth has arguably been much more convincing this season. Its disciplined defense, which left Tottenham goalless the last time these two met, is the perfect example.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 for Bournemouth

Option #1

  • Bet: Bournemouth Victory

  • Odds Range: 2.62-2.80

Option #2

  • Bet: Over/Under (Over 2.5)

  • Odds Range: 1.32-1.36

āš½ Manchester United vs Arsenal
English Premier League
Sunday 9 March; 17:30 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: Arsenalā€™s chances here are much stronger than the odds are suggesting.

  • CXSports says: Manchester United has struggled this season and is yet to show any signs of making a convincing turnaround. Arsenal, on the other hand, has been rock solid defensively (lowest goals against tally in the league), and has been reasonably potent in attack, too. With that said, in their last head-to-head, United managed to force a penalty shootout to win against Arsenal in an FA Cup match. That could signal this will be a closer game than the rest of the stats are signaling.

  • Score prediction: 0-1 for Arsenal

Option #1

  • Bet: Arsenal Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.74-1.86

Option #2

  • Bet: First Team to Score (Arsenal)

  • Odds Range: 1.53-1.65

āš½ West Ham vs Newcastle United
English Premier League
Monday 10 March; 21:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why weā€™re watching: The marketā€™s putting too much weight on the result from the last time these two met. Thatā€™s left some overvalued odds on Newcastle.

  • CXSports says: West Ham is another side thatā€™s faced defensive challenges this season (-15 GA) ā€” a factor thatā€™s contributed significantly to their relatively large number of losses this season. Meanwhile, Newcastle has shown attacking strength, and coupled that with a ā€˜good enoughā€™ defense to maintain its reputation as a solid mid-table contender. With that said, West Ham took a 2-0 win over Newcastle last time these two met, although a repeat is highly unlikely. At best, West Ham might hold Newcastle to a draw.

  • Score prediction: 1-2 for Newcastle

Option #1

  • Bet: Newcastle Victory

  • Odds Range: 2.12-2.26

Option #2

  • Bet: Over/Under (Under 3.5)

  • Odds Range: 1.32-1.42
