Odds and predictions for this weekend’s EPL action...

Good Morning ☀,

It’s Lucas here, your Chief Predictions Officer at What Are the Odds?

If it’s true that “it ain't over till the fat lady sings”, then I guess these two must’ve been belting out a tune or two last Sunday.

Yep, in case you missed it, the Scousers walloped the Spurs 5-1, and opened up a 15-point gap on the table, thus guaranteeing their #1 position (and thus, the title) through to the end of the season.

Anyway, that was last week. Here’s what’s up this week in today’s edition of What Are the Odds?

  • Odds and score predictions for this weekend’s Premier League action. đŸ‡ŹđŸ‡§âšœ

  • A little Liverpool trivia to see how much you know about this year’s EPL champions. 🐭🏰

SCORE PREDICTIONS [FIRST HALF]

This week’s top tips and score predictions, brought to you by CXSports — the leader in odds and score predictions.

⚜ Aston Villa vs Fulham
English Premier League
Saturday 03 May; 13:30 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: A big edge for Villa paired up with some juicy odds.

  • CXSports says: At first glance, this looks like it’ll be a closely fought match, with Aston Villa currently in 7th place (51 points) facing off against Fulham in 9th place (48 points). However, there are some slight differences that should tip the balance, with stats like goals per match (1.65 vs 1.49) falling slightly in Villa’s favor. Add the home advantage into the mix, and you’ve suddenly got an edge that’s hard to ignore.

  • Score prediction: 2-1 for Aston Villa

Option #1

  • Bet: Aston Villa Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.60-1.81

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.60-1.74

⚜ Everton vs Ipswich
English Premier League
Saturday 03 May; 16:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: Some nice, solid odds on a fairly certain Everton victory.

  • CXSports says: Neither of these teams are particularly great when it comes to doing what really matters (scoring goals), with both averaging about 1 goal a game. However, when it comes to doing the other thing that matters (stopping the other team from scoring goals), a HUGE difference emerges. On average, Everton concedes 1.21 goals per match. Ipswich, on the other hand, concedes almost double that at 2.15 per game. That should pretty much clear up who’s got the edge here.

  • Score prediction: 2-0 for Everton

Option #1

  • Bet: Everton Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.44-1.59

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (No)

  • Odds Range: 1.85-2.03

⚜ Leicester vs Southampton
English Premier League
Saturday 03 May; 16:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: Because who doesn’t wanna watch a race between a sloth and a three-legged tortoise?

  • CXSports says: #19 takes on #20. What could possibly go wrong? We could point out that neither team is any good in defense (Leicester’s conceded 76 so far, while Southampton’s conceded 80). But it’s not like either’s defense is going to be getting much of a workout anyway, with both sides averaging less than a goal per match this EPL season. In all honesty, while Leicester technically has a very slight edge here, this match is probably headed for a draw.

  • Score prediction: 1-1 draw

Option #1

  • Bet: Draw

  • Odds Range: 3.25-3.75

Option #2

  • Bet: Double Chance (Leicester / Draw)

  • Odds Range: 1.30-1.41

⚜ Arsenal vs Bournemouth
English Premier League
Saturday 03 May; 16:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: HUGE odds on a high-probability Arsenal victory.

  • CXSports says: To be fair to Bournemouth, they’re not a half bad team. Currently in the mid-table and with just one loss in their last 5, they’re far from being the worst team in the league. But, compare them to Arsenal, and they look like amateurs on just about every front, whether that be goal difference, head-to-head history, or recent form.

  • Score prediction: 3-1 for Arsenal

Option #1

  • Bet: Arsenal Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.71-2.07

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.62-1.75

SCORE PREDICTIONS [SECOND HALF]

⚜ Brentford vs Manchester United
English Premier League
Sunday 04 May; 15:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching:

  • CXSports says: On average, these two are pretty evenly matched. Or, at least, they’re close enough to each other that there doesn’t seem to be much to split the difference, even if Brentford does come out ever so slightly in front. However, as soon as we look at each team’s home and away record, one thing becomes clear — Manchester United’s only won 4 away games this season. Therefore, a rather clear edge goes to Brentford.

  • Score prediction: 2-1 for Brentford

Option #1

  • Bet: Brentford Victory

  • Odds Range: 1.52-1.68

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.53-1.68

⚜ Brighton vs Newcastle
English Premier League
Sunday 04 May; 15:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: Massive odds on a very strong Newcastle side.

  • CXSports says: When we saw the odds on this one, we couldn’t believe our eyes. A quick look at the last five for these two quickly paints a picture — Brighton have only won a single game whereas Newcastle’s got 4 victories. The same applies to just about every stat. About the only saving grace for Brighton is their strong home record, but that might not be enough to save them here.

  • Score prediction: 1-3 for Newcastle

Option #1

  • Bet: Newcastle Victory

  • Odds Range: 2.11-2.38

Option #2

  • Bet: Double Chance (Brighton / Newcastle)

  • Odds Range: 1.24-1.30

⚜ West Ham vs Tottenham
English Premier League
Sunday 04 May; 15:00 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching: There’s some tasty odds on a high-probability draw. Otherwise, take the safer draw-no-bet option.

  • CXSports says: The consensus on this match tends to favor West Ham, mostly because of the home advantage coupled with Tottenham’s Euro focus. However, the stats don’t lie, and, with just 39 goals all season it’s hard to ignore just how shocking West Ham has been this season on the attack. In short, this one’s more evenly matched than most people are predicting.

  • Score prediction: 1-1 draw

Option #1

  • Bet: Draw

  • Odds Range: 3.30-3.85

Option #2

  • Bet: Draw No Bet (West Ham)

  • Odds Range: 1.52-1.70

⚜ Chelsea vs Liverpool
English Premier League
Sunday 04 May; 17:30 (Europe/Paris)

  • Why we’re watching:

  • CXSports says: Arne Slot’s come under attack this season for not rotating his squad as often as he “should”. So now the title’s wrapped up, it will be interesting to see if he takes a bit more of a risk on this game. If he plays it safe, then expect a Liverpool victory — even if Chelsea’s unbeaten at home since Decemeber, Liverpool’s lost just once on the road this season (and it wasn’t against Chelsea!). However, if Slot takes a bit more of a risk, then this could very well be Chelsea’s game.

  • Score prediction: 2-1 or 1-2 for either side

Option #1

  • Bet: Double Chance

  • Odds Range: 1.21-1.31

Option #2

  • Bet: Both Teams to Score (Yes)

  • Odds Range: 1.37-1.53

THE FINAL SCORE

People thought he couldn’t do it, but somehow Arne Slot pulled off the impossible and took Liverpool all the way to the top.

How?

This quote gives away one of this secrets:

Moral of the story?

Sometimes you gotta play by the book and follow the standard routine.

But, if you wanna really excel, then sometimes you’ve gotta go against the grain and intentionally seek out disruption.

That applies in both football and in life.
